Change over time

Throughout time, society changed and so did its view on women. They were inferior and treated unfairly, then began getting rights and given more job opportunities.

In the early 1900s

At first, women would have to stay home to:

• cook
• clean
• take care of the children

They wouldn’t have any representation in the government and weren’t given the same rights as men.

In the 1950s-60s

Women weren’t allowed to:

• vote
• work certain jobs
• even take birth control pills

If a man wanted to have sex, but the woman didn’t they would still have to do it and it wasn’t rape. Also, woman didn’t have maternity leave meaning they would be laid off for being pregnant. But, they were getting an education.

In the early 2000s



Although society’s view on women has changed, prejudice still remains. Some people still feel women shouldn’t have the right to make their own choices or to do certain things. You still here “you can’t do that because you’re not a boy” or “only a boy can do that.”
